Demeter, a Goddess of the harvest and fertility, embodies the cycles of life, abundance, famine, and death. She unceasingly emerges from the Winter depths each Spring, and as she crowns, we celebrate new beginnings with her. Her journey through the seasons takes us along for the ride, and by Fall, we feel her joy dimming as the days get shorter. This mother is saddened by the coming winter without her daughter, so she will wait right where she is for her return. Beautiful tendrils of love, life, loss, and time, a complicated fabric, surrounds and envelops her. She leans into the universe. A new cycle begins!
